- Tour a traditional, non-touristy floating market
- Visit the famous Wat Bang Kung
- A side of Bangkok few visitors get to see
Discover a new side to Bangkok with this fantastic full-day tour into the countryside. You’ll be led by an engaging local guide eager to introduce you to life in Samut Songkhram province. You’ll travel along the Maeklong River for a series of enthralling visits, beginning with a traditional floating market where you can browse the stalls with the locals. Very few foreigners venture out this far, so this is a real authentic slice of Bangkok life. Then you’ll take a rowing boat (don’t worry, someone else does the rowing), out to a coconut farm, where you can have a wonderfully fresh juice and learn how to make coconut palm sugar.
There will be an opportunity to have lunch by the side of the canal - the noodles are especially recommended - before you head on to another iconic spot - the Wat Bang Kung - a famous chapel entirely enclosed within the roots of a banyan tree. It’s quite a sight! You’ll admire other well-known landmarks, and sample some delicious street foods, before heading back into the city by train. It’s a long day out but so worth it, if you want to really get a sense of Thai culture outside Bangkok.
