Here’s an experience that will send a shiver down more than a few spines - take a turn feeding the residents at Crocosaurus Cove, where dozens of these fearsome crocs will be happy to display their toothy grins. Assisted by the expert handlers, you’ll help at feeding time, staying well clear of some of the most powerful bites around. And once the massive saltwater crocs have eaten their fill, you’ll be free to wander the reptile park for the rest of the day.
Over 70 species of other reptiles are to be found in this excellent Darwin City attraction, from snakes and lizards to turtles. You can pluck up the courage to hold a baby croc (count your fingers afterwards), learn how crocodiles hunt, poke your head into the Cage of Death for an up-close look at the big crocs, and have your picture taken with a snake around your shoulders if that’s your bag. All told, this is an entertaining, if slightly scary, learning experience, and one you certainly won’t forget in a hurry.
