- El Dorado region is the center of gold rush area
- Small, family owned wineries in an idylic rural setting
- A visit to some of the oldest wineries in California

In the mid-nineteenth century El Dorado was at the centre of the Gold Rush, but nowadays it’s more famous for its wine culture. This fab tour promises tastings at three of the region’s most prestigious wineries: Boa Vista, Boeger and Jodar, where you’ll be invited to tour the facilities, learn about the harvest and production processes, and meet the friendly teams who run them.
At Boa Vista you’ll also find a lovely selection of ciders, seasonal preserves and baked goods to compliment your wine. Boeger, one of the region’s oldest wineries, is currently experimenting with Italian grapes ideal for this climate, while at Jodar the emphasis is on hand-crafted, small batches. Here you’ll enjoy a lovely picnic in the scenic grounds, before heading back to the meeting point in Lake Tahoe.
