- Not one, not two, but three volcanos wait to be explored on this fantastic full-day Tinggly tour
- Walk inside an actual volcano crater
- See Izalco volcano, known as the Lighthouse of the Pacific for its eruptions that lasted almost 150 years
Beautiful views of volcanoes and gorgeous lake. Recommend taking a sweater or jacket because it was cold at 6,000 feet above sea level -- our guide, Eduardo, very kindly lent his jacket to my wife. Great lunch stop by the side of the lake. Eduardo is very proud of his country, for very good reasons -- we were very impressed with what we saw during our 3 day stay in El Salvador. Although it was not included in the itinnerary, Eduardo brought us back to the city on the "scenic route" viewing black lava from Volcan san Salvador, and including great views of the city. Eduardo speaks excellent English and is very intersting and informative. A memorable day seeing the best of El Salvador -- highly recommended.
This exhilarating tour begins in San Salvador, from where your guide will accompany you to Cerro Verde National Park, scene of many legendary hiking trails and home to three volcanoes: Cerro Verde, Santa Ana, and Izalco, and between them, a dense jungle thick with animal and plant life that thrives in this mineral-rich terrain. You’ll walk inside Cerro Verde’s crater - don’t worry, it’s extinct, before heading to Izalco, whose eruptions could be seen all the way from the Pacific Ocean.
The summit of Santa Ana, the largest and highest of the three volcanos, is often swathed in clouds brought in from the coast. From here you will head to the picturesque Lake Coatepeque, formed from two collapsed volcanic cones, where if you like you can take a boat ride before the journey back to San Salvador. An action-packed day out, featuring plenty of hiking and some of the best views in El Salvador.
