Thrills and spills abound in this heart-pumping Nicaragua experience as you sandboard down an active volcano, the Cerro Negro in the Cordillera de los Maribios range. Transferring from the meeting-point in Leon, you will hike around 45 minutes to the top, then your guide will instruct you on safe usage of your board before you have the option of a photo shoot on top of the volcano to remember the occasion - the views from the summit are simply incredible. Then it’s off to the outer rim, and away you go!
If you never tried volcano boarding before, it’s very similar to snowboarding, just not as cold when you fall over. No experience is necessary, you’ll have all the instruction and equipment you need to make it down safely. The Cerro Negro is the youngest volcano in Central America, and very active, giving an additional thrill. It has erupted over 20 times so far, the most recent in 1999. You’ll enjoy some picturesque panoramic views of the San Cristobal and Telica volcanoes on the way down as well.
