- Opportunity to sleep in prison - and leave next day
- Watch a performance of original historic events
- Discover authentic details throughout the prison
Karosta was a strategically-vital naval base first for Tsar Alexander III and then the Soviet Union, a central Baltic Sea location that crucially doesn’t ice over during the winter months. As with any naval facility, prison facilities were needed, and as part of efforts to regenerate the former port area, guests can now sleep over in the guardhouse, in an authentic reproduction of what actual prisoners would have gone through!
Be processed as a prisoner, learn the rules, put on the uncomfortable uniform, and sleep on a real prison bunk! This spooky, unusual hotel is Latvia’s Alcatraz, a place of legend - you may even see a ghost! Meals are available and you’ll be accompanied by a guide to ensure you don’t accidentally get stuck here for longer than you planned. During the night, a live performance recreates events at the prison, in which audience participation is welcomed. Hotel stays don’t get much more unique than this.
