- Visit one of Germany’s most beloved sights
- Explore a fairytale castle
- Stunning landscape views
Visiting Neuschwanstein Castle, built in the 19th century, is akin to walking through a fairytale. Indeed, the romantically-styled palace served as inspiration for the castle in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, and was itself designed by King Ludwig II as a homage to his favourite operatic composer, Wagner. This exceptional Germany experience sees you take a train from Munich to the idyllic village of Hohenschwangau, in the Bavarian Alps, from where you can ascend the hill and either visit the castle, or just drink in the sensational panoramic views.
While admission to the castle itself is not included in the experience price, it’s worth paying a little more on arrival to see the exquisite Throne Room, the Hall of the Singers, and other staterooms as well as the expansive corridors - the architectural detail is a marvel to behold. On a fine day you can see much of the surrounding countryside, including the Marienbrücke bridge and Pöllath Waterfall and Gorge, and you may even be able to take a refreshing dip in the Alpsee lake if you bring your swimsuit. A Munich experience not to be missed!
