Take a classic trek through the stunning Patagonian landscape with this Argentina gift experience. You’ll be picked up from your El Calafate hotel and driven along the famed Route 40, along the shores of the Argentino Lake to the La Leona River. Pausing for snacks and coffee at the ancient hotel ‘La Leona’, it’s on to gorgeous Lake Viedma and some of the most spectacular views you’ll ever see - glaciers, hidden lakes and the majestic Mount Fitz Roy, on the border with Chile and considered one of the most technically challenging mountains on earth.
Your trek gets underway at the interpretation centre in El Chalten, where you will be provided with lunch and a map for your self-guided hike. There are a couple of routes you can take, each of which will take you past some breathtaking miradores. The most recommended trail is the Laguna Torre, where you might encounter giant icebergs cleaved from the Cerro Torre iceberg. For a more sedate walk, the Laguna Capri trail affords beautiful views of the mountain over the lagoon. Whichever route you take, be assured that the scenery on this trip is simply out of this world.
