This is one of many experiences included in this collection!
Beautiful, mystical Kyoto was the seat of imperial Japan for centuries, home to 72 emperors and 3 shoguns. Often known as The City of Ten Thousand Shrines, there are numerous well-preserved examples that serve as venerated places of worship. Beginning at the magnificent City Hall Plaza which brims with activity, Joe will escort you to a well-known Buddhist temple and a Shinto shrine before visits to the traditional workshops of a wood engraver, and a brush and ink maker, to see skilled Japanese craftsmen at work.
The tour continues with a visit to the delightful Kyoto Imperial Garden Forest, a haven of tranquility where you’ll roam the peaceful Shusui-tei Garden - our tip is to find the bridge spanning the pond which gives superb views of the Imperial Palace. Here also is a well-known traditional teahouse where you can imbibe a refreshing cup of this Japanese speciality.
Lunch will be taken after a delicious sampling session at a local market, following which Joe will give a thrilling Samurai sword-show, featuring his world-famous trick of slicing apples in mid-air! Seriously folks, we cannot recommend this tour highly enough - this is a Tinggly must-do.

Joe as a tour provider was amazing. He was a person with such a unique personality and he even has a GREAT sense of humor! We had an absolutely great time in Kyoto because of him. I'm surely glad to have found this experience with Tinggly!
The tour was amazing!! He's 87! Entertaining and really fit so much into our day. Tons of yummy food, he taught me how to write my name in kanji! So much!
Joe was funny and informative. Moreover, we enjoyed the samurai exhibition and light lunch at the end of the tour. We will definitely recommend this to our friends.
