Experience description

Your safari begins with a bouncy drive through the spectacular mountains of Crete, on unpaved tracks, to the plateau of Katharo. You’ll traverse rivers and valleys on this exhilarating ride, with spectacular views all around, so make sure you bring a camera.

The tour pauses at the top of the Lassithi Plateau so you that you can photograph panoramic vistas of the mountains and plains, before tucking into a delicious BBQ lunch, with ample local wine to wash it down.

Following lunch, it’s over to a nearby Eco village to see artisans at their work and maybe pick up a few souvenirs. Not far away is a small cave where, it is said the Father of the Gods was born. If you would like to enter Zeus’ cave a fee is payable on-site.

The journey back will encompass the unique terrain of Seli, and the village of Krassi where a 2000-year old plane tree stands, and anyone who overdid it at lunch can take a revitalising shot of natural spring water. Lastly, the Selinari area is home to an endangered species of vulture which you may be lucky enough to see patrolling the skies above.
