We met Louis at the Ketchikan Kayak office across the street from Beth 3 of cruise ship dock. The offices were clean and welcoming and all staff present were too. Louis drove us, and another couple on an Eco-Bike tour, to the Clover Pass location where the fun begins.
We suited up for the Kayak Eco-Tour and paddled away with Grayson our guide. We were immediately impressed by Grayson's knowledge of Clover Pass. Grayson led us to Light Island first to warm us up, as we aren't regular kayakers. At Light Island Grayson filled us in about the different boats we were seeing in the pass as well as sea life we might also see.
Next we kayaked to next bigger island where we had a ton of fun. We saw two types of Jelly-Fish, seals came swimming up to us to check us out, then more seals swam towards us. Way Kool! Grayson was knowledgeable on the different trees and fauna. He pointed out edible berries and we tased a few. Very enjoyable,
Then we kayaked to a point to search for whale spouts. No luck, but Grayson pointed out other sights and the kayaking experience was refreshing.
We returned to Clover Pass office where we saw a huge sea lion nearby and that was interesting as Sea Lions are very, very big up close! We changed out of our rain suits and enjoyed some salmon dip outdoors with the other couple back from he Eco-Bike Tour. They enjoyed their tour very much too,
A short ride back to the ship dock, and Louis kindly dropped us off at the Totem Museum where we walked along the creek, watching the Salmon swim up-stream, down to Creek Street, Ketchikan. A pleasant 15 minute walk back to the cruise ship.
This was the best stop and tour on our 7-day cruise adventure. I highly recommend this tour and company. The guides are safe and knowledgeable. We were informed and had a great time! Thank you to both Louis and Grayson!
