- VIP guided tour of the Hoover Dam, a marvel of modern engineering
- Spectacular views from one of the top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20th Century
Built during the Great Depression of the early 1930s, the Hoover Dam was controversial at the time, but has since become a major visitor attraction. 221m (726ft) in height and generating over 4 billion Kwh of power every year, the dam spans the Colorado River on the border of Arizona and Nevada, and the huge numbers of construction workers employed inspired the rise of Las Vegas as a resort city for them to spend their earnings. We’re not going to tell you any more than that though, because it would spoil the tour!
Your guide will explain the details of how this masterpiece of architecture was created, as well as its influence on Las Vegas. Photographic opportunities will be legion, with incredible views of the river, the Black Canyon, Lake Mead and the dam itself. You’ll have a chance to walk across the bypass bridge for a closer look, and enjoy lunch in the nearby restaurant, before heading back to your hotel.
