- Visit one of the most iconic and sacred sites in Lithuania
- A unbreakable monument to unity and endurance

Lithuania’s Hill of Crosses, just outside Šiauliai, is a national icon and a major Catholic pilgrimage site, visited by Pope John Paul II and Ronald Reagan among other world leaders. For generations crosses, crucifixes, rosaries, effigies and statues of Lithuania patriots have been placed on the hill - some estimates say they now number over 100,000. The hill is a famous monument to the peaceful endurance of the Catholic faith, and one that survived almost half a century of Soviet occupation, despite several attempts to destroy it. To wander the hill is a fascinating, and moving experience.
You will be picked up from your central Vilnius accommodation by a professional local guide, and drive the 2.5 hour journey out to Šiauliai, to learn about the hill’s story and explore the many different types of religious artefacts here. The Hill of Crosses is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its immense religious and cultural significance. Before heading back to the capital, there will be time for lunch in a nearby restaurant (at your own expense). The tour finishes in the Town Hall Square.
