Experience description

If you’d like to see another side to Skopje, one that escapes many visitors, then this scenic half-day tour may be just the ticket. You’ll meet at the historic Fortress Kale in the old town, to connect with your guide and head out into the beautiful surrounding countryside. A cable car journey takes you to the famous Millennium Cross at the summit of Vodno Mountain, built to celebrate 2000 years of Christianity in Macedonia, before you continue on to Gorno Nerezi and the church of St. Pantelejmon, with its priceless Byzantine frescoes.

Your Skopje gift experience then moves on to Matka Canyon, a short drive from the city. Medieval monasteries and ancient caves, along with a range of water-based activities and hiking trails, make this one of the area’s most popular natural attractions. You can buy lunch at a lakeside restaurant, then have the option of either taking a boat journey to the incredible Vrelo Cave or spending some free time exploring before returning to Skopje.
