- Unique Mekong tour with chance to meet the locals
- Escape the tourist boat for a while for sightseeing by bicycle
This Mekong sightseeing tour is different from most others. While you will be travelling by boat for most of the time (the traditional rowing boat) you will also have the chance to explore riverside communities and scenery by bicycle, over easy terrain. But let’s start at the beginning. Your experience gets underway with a convenient pick-up from your Ho Chi Minh City hotel, after which you’ll travel to the Cai Be district. Here you’ll visit a couple of interesting religious sites: a Catholic church and a temple dedicated to Cadodaism, before boarding your boat.
Sail past a floating market, with superb photo opportunities as you meet local people going about their daily lives. Cruise past lush orchards, and onto Tan Phong island, where you’ll pick up your bikes and begin your ride, pausing first at a handicrafts workshop (a great place to pick up a souvenir handbag) and perhaps even meet the village children if you’re there on a school day. You’ll visit a local farmer’s house to enjoy a cup of tea, and learn about his garden, then head on to a workshop that specialises in conical hats. Finally, a delicious Vietnamese lunch in a restaurant before heading back to the city. A Mekong tour to remember.
