- Explore Pocitelj, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Tour one of the most famous Catholic pilgrimage sites
- Cross the famous Old Bridge of Mostar
Great day! Very long day out but our host was fantastic. Very informative and was great to have a tour guide who experienced the countries to their fullest and had experienced the wars.
This fab Dubrovnik day-trip begins with a crossing over the famous Franjo Tuđman Bridge, offering sensational views across the Gruž Harbour. After a brief pause in the popular Bosnian seaside resort of Neum, where you can grab a coffee or breakfast, you’ll continue to the medieval village of Pocitelj. The impressive karst architecture and many historic landmarks have seen it named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From here it’s on to Medjugorje, where in the 1980s several local children reported visions of the Virgin Mary. Since then the town has become one of the most well-known pilgrimage sites in the Catholic world.
A short journey brings you to Mostar, where there will be plenty of time set aside for sightseeing, getting lunch and picking up souvenirs. The cobbled streets of the charming old Ottoman Quarter are lined with traditional restaurants and craft shops, with the aromas of delicious Turkish coffee drifting through the air. One unmissable sight here is the Old Bridge, its famous arch among the most recognisable sights in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rebuilt after the war to its original specifications, it has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
