Un día completo de cata de vino de Georgia para dos

If you’ve visiting Georgia, Tinggly recommends this delightful day tour to the Kakheti region, where much of the country’s wine is produced. You’ll visit local families and enjoy some tastings (not included in price) of both red and whites, as well as a nip of Georgian grappa. Heading further into the Greater Caucasus mountain range, you’ll stop at the impressive 16th century Gremi Fortress, before the tour takes you to Kvareli, where you’ll see the extensive tunnels that lie beneath the mountains, which are used to store many barrels of wine, and have the opportunity of more tastings. Lunch at the restaurant here is a good idea.

By now you’ll probably be wanting to walk off the food and all that wine, so you can roam around the spectacular 19th century Prince Chavchavadze Palace and its famous gardens. Alternatively, for those who still crave the grape, further tastings are available at nearby Chateau Schuchmann. Or perhaps just sleep it off for a while in the car? This immensely enjoyable tour finishes with a brief stop at the market in Telavi where a huge range of locally-grown fruits and vegetables can be purchased, from peaches and pomegranates, to...grapes.
