- One of Macedonia’s most scenic tourist destinations
- Explore the famous village of Galičnik
- Conveniently private small-group tour
The soaring peaks and deep valleys of Mavrovo make this region one of the most striking in all of Macedonia, and this full-day tour from Skopje will fully immerse you in the area’s remarkable beauty and culture. You’ll begin with a visit to the Sharko cave, where you’ll see stalactites and stalagmites, as well as coral and other underground marvels, before heading on to Galičnik. On 12th July every year, one lucky couple win a competition to be married here in the traditional Galička style, a two-day event that is very popular with tourists. It may not be wedding day on your visit, but it’s still a pretty village to explore.
After leaving the village the Skopje gift experience continues with a journey past Mavrovo Lake and the Radika river to St. Jovan Bigorski, the country’s largest monastery. Overlooking the river valley, the monastery complex is a peaceful and attractive place to wander for a while. You’ll make a short stop at the Duf Falls, another highlight of Mavrovo National Park, before visiting another spectacular monastery, Rajicia. There will be time set aside for you to buy lunch in a restaurant before the drive back to the capital. Remember that this is a private small-group tour, so your guide can give you full attention and pause whenever you want a little more time.
