- Table Mountain is the place where both history and nature lovers will find exciting things to explore
- Superb views of Cape Town far below
Consistently voted one of the best hikes in South Africa, the India Venster route rewards those who put the effort in with unsurpassed panoramic vistas of Cape Town and the surrounding countryside. When seen from the city, the ravine resembles the shape of India on a map, hence the name. You’ll scrabble and climb your way there over rocky and exposed terrain to a natural frame of rocks where you can get a nice view of nearby Devil’s Peak.
Taking your time, and with plenty of opportunities for photo and water stops, you’ll go round the mountain to the 12 Apostles side, and then through a quiet ravine to the cable-car station. From here it’s one of the most iconic and unforgettable journeys in the country, slowly descending towards the city and the sea. Get out into nature, get some fresh air, get free.
