- Handpicked areas for diving which are teeming with life and colorful coral reef formations
- Visit the famous Cancun Underwater Museum with more than 480 life sized sculptures
The reef areas off Cancun are among the most famous and vibrant in the world - home to some 65 different coral species and 500 species of fish. Amazingly, you’ll be able to see anywhere up to 150ft (45m) on a good day, which is the ideal condition for scuba diving. Begin with an educational class in a pool to pick up the basics - after completing this class you’ll be awarded a temporary pass that enables you to dive again during your holiday without needing to retake. Once you’re confident with your equipment under the water, it’s time to experience the real thing!
You’ll be diving Cancun’s well-known Underwater Museum. A collection of sculptures sunk off the coast in order to form an artificial reef where coral could flourish and fish could make a home. See if you can find the Beetle, the Banker, and the (slightly scary) Timebomb sculptures, and then pause to admire the many beautiful creatures that inhabit this fragile ecosystem. If you’re going to learn scuba diving, then Cancun is definitely one of the best places to start!
