- Selection of iconic Cajun outings
- Visit one of Louisiana’s most beautiful plantations
- Learn about swamp life from a local captain
We love this authentic slice of Cajun history and culture and we’re sure you will too. Begin in New Orleans, from where you’ll be transported out to the bayou for a peaceful and highly scenic pontoon journey through the Louisiana swamps. Your captain will be pleased to enlighten you on the local residents and their habits, from reptiles and exotic birds to medicinal plants - as well as traditional Cajun techniques for alligator hunting and fur trapping!
Next on the agenda, a delicious Cajun-style lunch based around dishes such as gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish at the famous Oak Alley Plantation, known for its Greek Revival architecture and hauntingly beautiful cypress orchard by the side of the mighty Mississippi. You’ll also pay a visit to the nearby Laura Plantation for a look around some historic slave cabins and an introduction to plantation life for those with no choice but to be there, before heading back to the Big Easy. This New Orleans gift experience is a treat for those with a passion for history, nature and elegant beauty.
