- Visit the only tropical rainforest in the USA
- See a range of colourful indigenous animals
- Experience life in traditional Puerto Rican towns
This would be a good experience for people staying at hotels. We ended up having a car and staying close to the rainforest, so for us it wasn't quite as valuable since we spent several days there later in the week. The trip isn't super long but our guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
Our tour guide was well informed, but honestly the experience fell short of the high cost. We were not impressed with how little was done. The tour was only 5 hours, 2 of which were spent in transportation.
Stunning scenery and fun excursions abound on this unmissable Puerto Rico experience. You’ll board a comfortable, air-conditioned tour bus to journey into the El Yunque rainforest, where you’ll ascend El Yunque mountain, Spanish for “The Anvil”, for some spectacular views. During a short nature trail, you’ll be introduced by your knowledgeable guide to a variety of indigenous flora and fauna, possibly including orchids, parrots and tree frogs.
Stop for a refreshing dip beneath a thundering waterfall, catch glimpses of the Puerto Rico coastline, white sandy beaches and the Caribbean, and pass through numerous typical townships to see how life is lived there. Walking through this lush, tropical landscape is a joy, and one of the best ways to understand the biology and history that make this little island so special.
