- Damajagua Waterfalls are ranked #1 of things to do in Puerto Plata
- An ecological experience but not for the faint of heart
- Jump, swim, splash and slide over 27 waterfalls in this amazing aquatic adventure
The Damajagua Waterfalls were carved out of limestone over thousands of years, but have only been known to the wider world from 1994. They are part of the Damajagua river, which is comprised of 27 lakes of varying sizes, filled with crystal-clear blue water. You’ll make your way through an incredibly beautiful protected area to reach your first waterfall, with interpretation from your guide, which is where the real challenge begins!
Under careful instruction, you’ll tackle each of 12 waterfalls with names such as The Corkscrew, La Virgen and La Tinajita, either jumping over the edge, or sliding down the limestone rock into the natural pools below! After the first few, if you’re feeling really adventurous, why not try a somersault? After the final leap head back into the jungle to where a delicious picnic meal will have been laid out for you, before returning to base exhilarated, refreshed and filled with treasured memories.
