Leave the city behind for a day to explore Texas Hill Country and some of the most renowned wineries in the state. On this Austin gift experience you’ll make a 30-minute journey to the beautifully named Driftwood by comfortable air-conditioned coach, arriving at the Salt Lick first of all. This popular place originally found worldwide acclaim in 2008 when its finger-lickin’ fine barbecue was featured on the Travel Channel, and you’ll have time to pick up a plate of authentic, mouthwatering BBQ goodness.
After your meal, it’s time for the main event: wine-tasting. There are three places available here, beginning with the Salt Lick Cellars, which first planted vines in 2006; Fall Creek Vineyards was founded on an old cattle ranch, and has been one of the main drivers in making the Hill Country’s wines so well-known, while the Duchman Family Winery uses 100% Texan grapes to produce a selection of award-winning vintages. What you do and where you go is entirely up to you - tastings are supplemental, so you can spend as much or as little time in each as you please, before boarding the coach for the journey back to Austin.
